Odyssey House Victoria is a major provider of alcohol and other drug (AOD) services to individuals, families and children through residential and non-residential programs.  Our services include Residential Rehabilitation in the form of a Therapeutic Community for single adults, couples and parents with their children aged up to 12 years;  short-term residential rehabilitation for adults available near Benalla, N.E. St John of God Pinelodge Clinic is a 54-bed hospital offering specialised psychiatric and drug and alcohol rehabilitation care, with inpatient and day patient therapy programs and an alcohol and drug dependency recovery treatment program.

St John of God Pinelodge Clinic's Alcohol & Drug Unit is a dedicated drug and alcohol ward offering inpatient stays of up to 28 days (subject to funding and clinical need), with 24-hour nursing care and support.

The recovery treatment program is designed to help patients identify and resolve problems, understand the nature of dependency, be able to set realistic goals and adjust to a dependency free lifestyle. Salvation Army, The Bridge Centre

‘The Bridge’ is a distinctive programme for the treatment of persons with alcohol, drug, and/or other dependencies, and believes in a holistic approach to recovery.

A combination of individual, group and/or family counselling, spiritual awareness, life skills training, and staff role modelling are used to encourage the client to make significant life changing decisions.

A harm minimisation approach is used by the program, while recognising that for some clients the programme is directed towards total abstinence.

The Salvation Army operates a number of services under ‘The Bridge’ programme. These include but are not limited to, Counselling, Consultancy & Continuing Care, (which can include services for family or friends); Individual assessment, group work, and assistance accessing other services. Breaking the cycle of addiction & unemployment

TaskForce provides free alcohol and other drug counselling services to people who live or work within the Cities of Bayside, Kingston and Glen Eira. These services are available to people experiencing alcohol or other drug related concerns. Services include

  • General support for individuals by phone or one to one counselling
  • Counselling - short and long term
  • A youth outreach program – where we come to you
  • Groups and peer support activities, Including relapse prevention and education groups.

 

TaskForce has a duty worker on call Monday to Friday from 1.30 – 4.30pm. All referrals into the counselling service are taken through the intake program. Referrals can be made by you, from family, friends or professionals. There is no charge to access our services.

The Melbourne Clinic

 

Substance Withdrawal Program

The Melbourne Clinic Substance Withdrawal Program is usually a seven-day program providing high quality professional care and support for people withdrawing from alcohol and other drugs. The program aims to start a process of recovery from substance dependence and offers help with the physical, emotional, relationship and spiritual dimensions of addiction. Clients will need to be willing to participate in group work.  The process of maintaining recovery is an ongoing one. The Addictive Behaviours Day Program at The Melbourne Clinic is part of the ongoing support, and longer-term support is also available either by the clinicians in the group, or via a structured rehabilitation program at The Victorian Addiction Centre. Private health insurance recommended.

 

Outreach Program

The Melbourne Clinic Outreach Program is a clinical support and treatment program for persons with a psychiatric disorder under the care of psychiatrists in private practice and affliliated with The Melbourne Clinic, The Victoria Clinic or Northpark Private Hospital.  Outreach Clinicians will work with ABI case managers/staff to provide a comprehensive service for persons with a dual disability.  Services are provided by appointment in the person's home or local community.  The focus is to support each person to manage their mental health condition and reduce the risk of relapse.

Funding is provided through health insurance, Workcover insurers, or the Transport Accident Commission. Private health insurance recommended.

Turning Point works with people experiencing problems related to a range of drugs including heroin, alcohol, amphetamines and cannabis. YSAS (Youth Substance Abuse Service)

YSAS provides a range of programs and services for young people aged 12 to 21 years who are experiencing significant problems related to their alcohol and/or other drug use.

YSAS’s practice is evidence-based, drawing on extensive practice wisdom and national and international research.
YSAS recognises that young people may experience a number of problems simultaneously. Youth alcohol and other drug workers are trained and experienced in dealing with a range of complex problems including alcohol and drugs, legal matters, primary and mental health, homelessness, sexual abuse and family breakdown.

 

YSASline is a 24-hour telephone service provides information, counselling and referral to YSAS services and to youth-specific alcohol and drug services throughout Victoria.
